Borrowing Information

Any Canton resident age 5 or older may obtain a library card by filling out a short application form at the library. Click here for more details about getting a library card.

Canton Public Library materials circulate as follows:

Material Loan period Borrowing limit Fine
New Adult Fiction 2 weeks Unlimited 15 cents/day
Quick Reads 1 week 1 per card $1/day
DVDs and VHS tapes 1 week 5 per card $1/day
Museum/cultural site passes 3 days 1 per site per family $5/day
All other materials 3 weeks Unlimited 15 cents/day

Most materials may be renewed once. Renewals can be made in person, by telephone, or online through our website. Items on hold for other patrons, passes to museums and cultural sites, and Quick Read books cannot be renewed. Items obtained through the interlibrary loan system may or may not be renewable, depending on the owning library's policies.

To renew items online:

  1. Click on the link below.
  2. Select Review/Renew. 
  3. Sign in using your library card barcode number and your PIN.  Your default PIN is changeme (one word – no spaces) unless you choose and insert another PIN.

When you are signed into your account, you also can view the full list of items checked out on your card, their due dates, and any fines or fees charged against your card.
